Abstract

01
Blind Mechanics
An abstract blind drawing inspired by two large pieces of mining plant machinery, exploring industrial shapes and patterns through fineliner and ink.

02
Odds and Ends
An abstract fineliner drawing inspired by an assortment of discarded objects and everyday junk found around the house and yard.

03
Masked Mischief
An abstract artwork created using ink and soap bubbles, layered with blind drawings of two masks and an iguana in fineliner and ink.

04
Tangled Web
An abstract blind drawing combining spiders with industrial or mechanical forms, using tea washes, ink and fineliners to create overlapping patterns and textures.

05
Beautiful Chaos
An experimental abstract artwork created with tea and ink splatters, using fineliners to trace and develop the unexpected contours and patterns formed by the stains.

06
Uncharted Territory
An experimental abstract map created using tea and ink stains, with fineliners used to trace contours and transform random patterns into rivers, mountains and imaginary landscapes.

07
Beyond the Edges
An experimental abstract artwork created with tea and ink stains, using fineliners to explore contours, patterns and negative space along the borders of the composition.

08
Sticks and Stones
An experimental artwork beginning with a pen drawing of sticks, recreated as a magazine paper collage and then reinterpreted using fineliners and markers.

09
Flaming Fire
An expressive abstract acrylic painting that began as sketches of lions before evolving into a spontaneous exploration of colour, texture and movement. The painting developed intuitively until it felt complete.

10
Facing the Storm
An acrylic painting on canvas created for the Illusions exhibition. This artwork holds special significance as my first painting sold at the Johann van Heerden Gallery.

11
Light and Shadow
Created during my high school years, this mixed-media artwork combines acrylic paint and collage to explore the contrast between light and darkness. Angel-like figures overlap and merge, their expressions and forms suggesting the delicate balance between innocence and mystery. An early exploration of symbolism, emotion and the complexity of human nature.

12
Fairy Pheonix
Painted live during a women's breakfast at a school, this acrylic artwork was inspired by the feathered wing of a phoenix. Rather than the traditional fiery reds, oranges and yellows, I chose cool shades of blue, purple and pink. The frazzled, flowing feathers suggest movement, energy and a phoenix that refuses to conform to expectations.

13
Curious Scribbles
Created during my high school years using oil pastels, this artwork explores how seemingly random marks can come together to form a recognisable figure. Large, expressive scribbles gradually reveal a curious character, capturing a sense of wonder and playful experimentation with line, movement and form.

14
Colour Diary
Created as part of a visual diary exercise on Skillshare, this oil pastel artwork was an exploration of colour without a predetermined outcome. An opportunity to experiment freely, allowing colours, marks and textures to develop intuitively. A playful exercise in creative expression rather than a planned composition.

15
An Unfinished Thought
Created as part of a visual diary exercise on Skillshare, this mixed-media artwork combines watercolour, crayon and oil pastels in a spontaneous exploration of colour, texture and mark-making. Although the composition still feels unfinished, it represents the point where the creative process naturally stopped that day. Not every experiment needs a polished conclusion.

16
Kois in a Pond
Created in oil pastels as part of my InScape portfolio, this artwork depicts koi fish swimming in a pond. The composition explores the movement of the fish beneath the water's surface, using colour and texture to capture the peaceful yet ever-changing nature of a pond.
